Vegas and Veggies, please.

Today, I craved veggies so badly, and Chipotle sufficed.

In other news, it has been a very tiring week. This past weekend, the Vegas trip my girlfriends and I were planning for months finally happened. Needless to say, it was SO FUN!

After two days of clubbing and filling up on spirits, I knew it was time to detox. Back to the routine. Yoga + tea, and moderate eating. I mean, I really didn’t do too bad in Vegas, eating-wise. Pho and Vietnamese sandwiches were pretty healthy options – it was the drinking that got me. Well, all on a special occasion, right?

Sunday night, I returned to the mat and found myself a tad less flexible, seeing as I didn’t do yoga since Thursday. A little recovery yoga first, and then last night I resumed Day 17 of my 30 Days of Yoga.

Like running, I keep telling myself that results don’t come so fast – you have to work at it, it is a journey. I had trouble getting the crow pose down yesterday but when I took a deep breath and relaxed, I found myself at ease again. There goes my overthinking again – I really need to work on that. Overthinking is hindering my abilities.

This weekend, my sister will be visiting for her birthday weekend, and I’ve already purchased my Disney tickets! I’m so excited! However, it’s going to be another busy weekend – but I’m hoping to get a yoga session done along the way. My sister’s also been on the yoga grind and has been consistent (and I am so proud of her!), so maybe we can do one together. 🙂

I haven’t ran since last week, and I’m honestly planning for a long, slow (very slow) run the weekend after, in preparation to get back to the grind in May. I miss running and I feel lazy not doing so, but I’m enjoying my break the best I can.

Hope everyone’s been having a great week so far!

Till next time,

Hello, Bakasana.

It’s been a couple days and I already miss having some cardio (ahem, running) in my life.

I mean, just by giving myself a break from running doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop running altogether! I’m actually itching to run a HIIT 2-miler tomorrow morning. I might do just that, honestly.

Also, I think I’m a tad bit excited for the Beat the Blerch 2015 being announced! I heard about this just last year and am making it a MUST do on my running list this year! Signing up.. as soon as I have the funds! With Vegas and Disneyland on the horizon… eek. I just can’t wait to get these trips aside (although I’m looking very much forward to them!!), then save some money + sign up for Beat the Blerch and the Girls on the Go half!

I really have plans to get my butt into gear and get back to training for the half either in May or June.

Another update: I HAVE ACHIEVED THE BAKASANA (in full), or the “Crow Pose”.

Granted, I can only last about 2 seconds until I can’t take it anymore. BUT STILL. I was absolutely ecstatic! Just two weeks ago (or like, since ever), I could not even try to lift my toes off the ground. My core and my arms were bust. But as of yesterday, I have achieved letting my feet go off the ground!

It’s such a weird – but awesome – feeling to describe. Once I felt confident in myself, looked ahead, took careful breaths, I eventually sank into the pose. Yoga is changing me day by day; I am a believer. I love where I’m headed.

The next step? Mastering the pose. 😉

I hope that everyone has had a great Monday!

Till next time,

P.
